Melanoma Awareness Program and The Melting Pot … April 7, 2010

Earlier this year, I posted about Jacki and her battle with Melanoma … and her REMISSION!!!  {God has blessed us}

Way back in 1997, Jacki and I started thinking and wishing for a way to start a foundation and bring awareness, education and just smart sun to Lexington, Central Kentucky and beyond!

In an effort to help us with this cause, Lori Hagen, owner of The Melting Pot has been gracious enough to host, not one, but TWO events for Jacki Allen’s Melanoma Awareness Program.

Here are the essential details …

    as i am sitting in the hospital with my aunt jill, who was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer on wednesday april 7, 2010, i came across this on the melting pot website. i was on the restaurants site to see if i really wanted my boyfriend to spend a lot of money on dinner for my 20th birthday this tuesday april 13th. i also felt that i was selfish for celebrating my birthday when my aunt is in the hospital, but then i came across the girl’s night out on april 12th to support the awareness of melanoma. i told my boyfriend about it and he researched the event online and found this link and sent it to me, so i felt like i needed to comment. for some reason, i had a sigh of relief when i saw this. i am sitting here looking at my loving aunt, who is like a 2nd mother to me, breathing hard and in so much pain. i have so many emotions running through my mind every second. i am lost. i am praying for the strength to help her and support my family, but i then remember i am only 19 and i am the youngest in the family. i am excited about this event, meeting you and sharing stories.

    • Kaitlyn –

      We are so very sorry to hear about your Aunt Jill … our thoughts, prayers and hugs are sent to you both. I am so glad that you came across this page and hope that you will make it out to The Melting Pot, not only to celebrate your 20th birthday, but to see that we are trying to make strides with Melanoma.

      sincerely … jacki and jaimeson
